ABOUT KATSUSIP
Built from the questions I kept asking at the table.
KatsuSip is a drink discovery and pairing guide created by a chef who is still learning—through food, drinks and real dining experiences.
Why I built KatsuSip
I work as a chef while continuing to learn about cooking, flavour and pairing. One of the most useful ways I learn is by visiting different restaurants, tasting the food and paying attention to how each drink changes the experience of a dish.
The difficult part was often the drinks menu. I would see a cocktail, wine or sake and still need to ask: What will this taste like? Is it sweet, bitter or sharp? How strong is it? Will it work with the food I ordered? How is it different from the name beside it?
One place to understand the glass
I built KatsuSip because answering those questions usually meant searching several different sources at the table. The aim is to bring cocktails, wine and sake into one clear guide, organised around the details that matter before ordering: taste, flavour, strength, body, drinkability, similarity and food pairing.
KatsuSip is not intended to replace a bartender, sommelier or sake specialist. It is a practical starting point that helps drinkers understand a menu, compare options and ask better questions.
Taste → Pairing → Compare → Discover
Taste Profiles make different drinks easier to read on the same scale. Food Pairing highlights useful directions rather than rigid rules. Compare shows the differences side by side, while Tried and Favourite help you build a personal record of what you enjoy.
Personalised recommendations are planned for the future. When released, they will use the drinks you choose to record—not pretend to know your taste before enough evidence exists. The goal remains simple: help you answer, “What should I drink next?” with more confidence.
